Haiku Reading/Booksigning at NMMA September 25th, 1:00 pm

On September 25 Axle Contemporary celebrates the completion of our Haiku Roadsign project at the New Mexico Museum of Art. The Museum will host a poetry reading and booksigning for our first publication. Most of the 32 poets selected for the project will be present to read their work. The freshly minted 80-page color book with essays by Axle Contemporary, Santa Fe Poet laureate Joan Logghe, and NMMA curator of contemporary art Laura Addison, will be available for purchase. Images include all 32 haiku on the sign, photographed in locations throughout Santa Fe, from Old Pecos Trail to Cerrillos Road, from Sawmill Road to Guadalupe Street, The Plaza, and many points in between.

In addition we will have Haiku writing activities in the museum galleries in response to art in the current exhibitions, as well as drawing activities in response to the haiku from the Haiku Roadsign project.  The Axle Contemporary mobile gallery will be parked in front of the museum on Palace Avenue with our Harvest exhibition throughout the afternoon.

Participatory activities in the galleries begin at 1:00 pm.
Reading and booksigning in the central courtyard at 2:00 pm.
Admission and activities are free to all New Mexico residents.
All activities and poetry reading are free with museum admission.
